Fundamental Theology

Course Description:
The
candidates will learn that branch of theology which establishes the
fact that God has made a supernatural revelation and established the
Church, founded by Christ, as its divinely authorized custodian and
interpreter. It further will teach the role set forth as the
rational foundation of the Catholic faith.
This course will present, as a minimum, key
concepts and definitions, the human person,
Fides et
Ratio I & II, does God exist, Jesus as the revelation of
God, the Holy Trinity, the sacraments, the Eucharist as the source
and summit, Mary the Mother of God, Scripture & Tradition, the
origin of species, redemptive suffering, a look at revisionist
history, The Church, and other related topics.
Evaluation:
The
candidates will be required to write both a mid-term and final
paper, in addition to a final examination. Candidates will also be
evaluated on classroom participation and understanding of the
topic(s) being taught.
