This course is intended to be an introduction
for the student to the reading and interpretation of the four
Gospels included in the Christian Bible.
Included in this class will be an historical analysis of the
nature of biblical exegesis, as well as an introduction to the
proper methods of interpretation as put forth by the Pontifical
Biblical Commission. As well as an introduction to the
formation of the Gospels in general and problems of interpretation
that have arisen in the 19th
century, each of the Gospels will be studied individually, thus
giving the student a survey of the unique character of each of the
writings.

Grading:
Grading will include at least a midterm and a
final exam as well as summary papers to be given, thus showing an
understanding of the
Gospels.
