Aspirancy and Candidacy, as specified below, is effective as of this date.
End
of Semester grades to be entered on the individual.s permanent
record will be recorded as .Pass,. .Fail,. or .Probation.. For the
latter two grades appropriate comments will be entered in the
permanent record.
Deficiency Reports will be prepared in mid-April and
mid-October identifying those men who are falling behind in their
studies and/or are anticipated to fall into the .Probation. or
.Fail. categories at the end of the semester. All such reports will
become part of the Aspirant.s or Candidate.s permanent
record.
Final
Grades, as stated above, will be recorded as .Pass/Fail,. with a
passing grade being 75 or higher, probation 70-74 and failing below
70. Probation status may also be used for students whose work is
consistent tardy or for those who miss more than two (2) class
periods without prior approval.
All
reports and tests will be graded using percentages. This grading
system is not intended to create an atmosphere of academic
competition; however is intended to determine the level of
understanding and comprehension of material by each student. Factors
such as, keeping abreast with reading and homework assignments,
understanding, accuracy, completeness and timeliness of completing
assigned work will also be important factors considered in grading.
Failure to complete assigned work or examination on time may result
in a failing grade in any given course.
The
Diaconal Formation Review Board (DFRB) will be responsible,
together with the appropriate formation instructor(s), for reviewing
all Aspirants and Candidates with failing grades or on probationary
status. The DFRB, with documented
advise of the instructor(s), will be responsible for implementing
appropriate corrective action and solely responsible for making
recommendations whether individual Aspirants or Candidates should
remain in the formation program.
